APS Tragedy Exposes True Face of Terrorists, Say President and PM

Islamabad (Web Desk) – President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have said that heinous incidents like the Army Public School (APS) massacre reveal the true face of terrorists and extremists. They reiterated that the people of Pakistan will never allow such forces to succeed in their nefarious designs.

In their messages on the 10th anniversary of the APS tragedy, both leaders paid tribute to the martyrs and their families, calling the attack a heart-wrenching event that continues to haunt the nation.

President Zardari, in a statement from the President’s House, described the attack on December 16, 2014, as an assault on the nation’s future. He condemned the targeting of innocent children as a barbaric and inhumane act. “The APS tragedy highlighted the terrorists’ agenda to spread chaos and discord in our society,” he said.

He emphasized the need for global efforts to eliminate terrorism and urged everyone to pledge their commitment to a peaceful Pakistan free from terror. The President also acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s political leaders, armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians in the fight against terrorism.

“The APS attack left an indelible mark on the collective memory of our nation. It united us against terrorism and reminded us of the sacrifices we have made for this cause. Our hearts go out to the families of the innocent victims,” Zardari added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the APS tragedy was not just an attack on children but an assault on Pakistan’s future and existence. He praised the resilience of the Pakistani people, who have shown unwavering resolve in the face of such challenges.

“This day reminds us of the bravery of our nation, which stands united against terrorism. It also renews our commitment to eradicating this menace completely,” the Prime Minister said.

Both leaders vowed that Pakistan would never succumb to the threats of terrorists and would continue its efforts to ensure peace and security for future generations.
