A senior Hamas leader, Ismail Barhoum, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the surgery wing of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, according to a Hamas source. Barhoum was receiving treatment there after being critically injured in an earlier attack on his home.

Israeli forces confirmed the strike, saying it specifically targeted Barhoum, whom they described as a “key terrorist” operating from within the hospital grounds. The military said precision-guided munitions were used following detailed intelligence.

Photos showed part of the hospital ablaze, though the building remained mostly intact. Gaza’s health ministry reported one death and multiple injuries, including among medical staff. The affected department was evacuated after the incident.

Barhoum is the fourth Hamas political bureau member killed since Israel resumed operations following a breakdown in ceasefire talks. A day prior, another senior Hamas official, Salah al-Bardawil, was killed with his wife in an Israeli strike near al-Mawasi. The Israeli military said Bardawil was involved in strategic planning for Hamas, and his death would impact the group’s military operations.

Both attacks highlight the intensifying conflict and Israel’s focus on dismantling Hamas leadership amid ongoing hostilities in Gaza.

Huthi media reported additional US strikes in Sanaa and Saada, the rebel heartland. While the United States has not confirmed the Sanaa operation, a US defence official stated, “CENTCOM is conducting strikes across multiple locations of Iran-backed Huthi locations every day and night in Yemen.”
