Islamabad, ( The COW News DIgital) The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially declared Angoor Ada, located on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, as a Customs Station. The notification, recently issued by the Customs Department, designates the area for the loading, unloading, and clearance of commercial goods, marking a significant development in cross-border trade facilitation.
Covering an area of approximately 194.5 kanals, the Angoor Ada Customs Station will function as the National Logistics Cell (NLC) Border Terminal, aimed at streamlining customs procedures and improving trade efficiency between the two neighboring countries. The formal recognition of Angoor Ada as a customs point is expected to enhance transparency, regulate commercial activities, and provide better control over the movement of goods across the border.
The notification also clearly defines the jurisdiction and operational limits of the customs station in coordination with Afghan authorities, ensuring that both sides have a mutual understanding of the border management framework. This step reflects the ongoing efforts by Pakistan to strengthen trade ties with Afghanistan while addressing security and regulatory concerns.
Officials emphasize that the establishment of this customs station will simplify processes for traders by providing an officially sanctioned venue for the inspection and clearance of goods, reducing delays and promoting smoother logistical operations. The move is seen as part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to modernize border infrastructure and boost economic connectivity in the region.
Trade experts believe that the Angoor Ada customs station will play a crucial role in increasing bilateral trade volume, offering more secure and efficient transit routes, and reducing the informal and smuggling activities that have long plagued the border areas. By formalizing customs activities, the government aims to increase revenue collection and enhance monitoring of imports and exports.
This initiative also aligns with regional economic integration goals and complements other infrastructural projects aimed at improving cross-border trade, such as the Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA).
The establishment of Angoor Ada Customs Station is expected to provide a positive signal to investors and stakeholders about Pakistan’s commitment to improving trade facilitation and border management, which is vital for regional stability and economic growth.
