Delhi( The COW News Digital)Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has finally opened up about why she has remained single at the age of 50 and what conditions would make her consider marriage in the future.
Speaking to Indian media, the actress revealed that she has received several marriage proposals over the years — including from men much younger than her — but chose to turn them down because of one major condition they insisted upon.
“Many of the people who proposed to me wanted me to quit acting after marriage and just stay at home,” Patel said, adding that this was something she could never agree to. “I am single by choice. I have rejected several proposals because I cannot leave my career or my individuality behind for anyone,” she said.
Patel explained that her passion for acting and her personal freedom have always been a priority, even if it came at the cost of love. “People who truly love you should support your career and help you grow. I have lost a lot — both in love and career — but I cannot choose one over the other,” she stated.
The actress also revealed that before joining films, she was in a relationship with a man from a prominent industrial family in South Mumbai. However, the relationship ended because he did not want her to pursue a career in films. “For me, it was impossible to give up my dreams, so I chose acting,” she said.
Despite being single, Patel said she continues to receive marriage proposals, many of them from men much younger than her. She added that age has never been a barrier for her — what matters is mutual respect and acceptance.
“I still get proposals, even from men half my age. If I ever meet someone who accepts me as I am, with my career and my choices, I will definitely get married,” Patel said with a smile.
