Ali Amin Gandapur Removed as PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President; Junaid Akbar Named Successor

Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been removed from his role as the provincial president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja, while addressing the media in Rawalpindi, confirmed the decision, stating that Junaid Akbar, a Member of the National Assembly, has been appointed as the new president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Salman Akram Raja, the decision was made in light of Gandapur’s extensive responsibilities as Chief Minister and the ongoing law and order challenges in the province. He emphasized that the move was made with Gandapur’s consent, as he wished to focus on his role as Chief Minister.

He further clarified that Mishal Yousafzai is not a spokesperson for Bushra Bibi, and there are designated individuals within the party to manage its communication and representation.

The decision to appoint Junaid Akbar was reportedly made during his meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan in jail. The meeting was attended by MNA Atif Khan, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bachhar, and Punjab MPA Mian Farhat Abbas.

Additionally, Salman Akram Raja hinted at potential organizational changes in Punjab, with former MNA Aliya Hamza likely to be assigned a significant role.

Addressing questions about negotiations with the government, Raja stated that PTI’s stance remains firm on forming a commission first. If the government schedules a meeting on January 28, the party will evaluate its next steps accordingly.
