Khyber: Afridi tribal elders convened a Jirga in protest against the arrest of prominent tribal leader Malik Naseer Kokikhel, issuing a three-day ultimatum to the provincial government for his release.
During the Jirga, tribal representatives warned that if Malik Naseer is not released within the stipulated timeframe, a larger tribal assembly, including an 80-member committee of the Afridi and other tribal communities, as well as the Pashtun National Jirga, will be held at the iconic Bab-e-Khyber.
The tribal elders expressed their discontent over the arrest, calling it an affront to tribal traditions and unity. They vowed to take a unified stand if their demands were not met, emphasizing the importance of preserving tribal autonomy and justice.
Further actions will depend on the government’s response within the given deadline.
