Islamabad: Finance Ministry Reveals Collection of ₹338 Billion in Taxes from Mobile Users Over Five Years

The National Assembly, chaired by Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah, was briefed on the extensive tax collection from mobile phone users during the past five years.

According to details shared by the Ministry of Finance, a staggering ₹338 billion was collected from mobile users in taxes during this period. The documents revealed that ₹50 billion was collected in 2020, followed by ₹55 billion in 2021 as advance taxes. Similarly, taxes on phone recharges amounted to ₹61 billion in 2022, ₹80 billion in 2023, and ₹92 billion in the current fiscal year of 2024.

The ministry also projected optimistic economic indicators for the upcoming fiscal year. It expects exports to reach $33 billion in FY2025, while remittances are estimated to climb to $33.5 billion.

Officials highlighted substantial growth in the IT sector, projecting an increase of $8.5 billion. IT exports are anticipated to hit $4.2 billion during the current fiscal year, marking significant progress in this critical domain.
