Adobe is poised to shake up the video editing landscape with the launch of its innovative AI-powered video creation tool, Firefly Video Model. This cutting-edge technology is set to join Adobe’s esteemed suite of applications, catering to the evolving needs of creative professionals.
Firefly Video Model, slated for a limited beta release later this year, promises to streamline the video creation process. This artificial intelligence tool can generate a five-second clip from a single prompt, interpreting both text and image inputs with remarkable accuracy. Users can specify camera angles, panning, motion, and zoom, giving them unparalleled control over the creative process.
Alexandru Costin, Vice President of Generative AI at Adobe, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional quality and prompt understanding. “We’ve invested in making this model reach the level of quality and prompt understanding that videographers expect. We’ve invested in making sure we really pay attention to the prompt… respecting guidance from videographers much better than other (AI video) models.”
Adobe’s dedication to ethical AI development is evident in its training approach. The video model is trained on public domain or licensed content, ensuring that no Adobe customer content is used without permission. “We only train them on the Adobe Stock database of content that contains 400 million images, illustrations, and videos that are curated to not contain intellectual property, trademarks, or recognizable characters,” Costin explained.
In addition to Firefly Video Model, Adobe is introducing Generative Extend, a tool integrated into its Premiere Pro video editing software. This innovative feature extends existing clips by two seconds, generating seamless inserts to fill gaps in footage. First previewed in April, Generative Extend has garnered widespread acclaim from customers, with Costin noting a “huge positive reaction.”
As the demand for AI-powered video generation tools continues to grow, Adobe’s entry into this market is poised to make a significant impact. With Firefly Video Model and Generative Extend, Adobe cements its position as a pioneer in the creative technology space, empowering professionals to push the boundaries of video editing and storytelling.
