Manipur, India – A new wave of tension has erupted in the Indian state of Manipur due to bloody ethnic riots and fake encounters involving the military.

According to Indian media reports, tensions escalated after the brutal murder of a woman on November 7 in the Jeribam district of Manipur, following her alleged rape. This incident was followed by the brutal killing of 10 youths from the Kuki tribe by the police. The Indian police labeled these young men as terrorists, a claim rejected by the Kuki community.

The Kuki tribes have strongly denied the police’s terrorism allegations, stating that none of the 10 individuals killed were terrorists. The autopsy report confirmed that the youths were subjected to severe torture before being killed.

Residents of Manipur have expressed their frustration, claiming that Prime Minister Modi’s government and Chief Minister Biren Singh have completely failed to restore peace in the region. In response to the escalating violence, the Modi administration has imposed a curfew in Manipur and suspended internet services. Additionally, to control the situation, the government has deployed 9,000 police officers across the state.
