Islamabad News Desk): Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah has termed the willingness of PTI’s leadership to engage in dialogue as a significant breakthrough. Speaking in an interview with a private TV channel, he highlighted the importance of sincere negotiations, stating that progress can be achieved within a month, and more time can be allotted if needed.
Rana Sanaullah emphasized that dialogue between the opposition and the government is essential for a functional parliamentary system. He remarked, “If talks are conducted with sincerity, a month is sufficient. If progress is made, the timeframe can be extended.”
Addressing broader concerns, Rana Sanaullah questioned whether the European Union is aware of the grave human rights situation in Balochistan, where people are reportedly pulled off buses and shot. He stressed the need for global awareness and action on these issues.
He criticized Pakistan’s judicial system, pointing out its inefficiencies in delivering timely justice. “In anti-terrorism courts, cases drag on for five years. People complete their sentences and return home before their appeals are heard,” he lamented.
Drawing a comparison with international practices, he noted how swift reforms in judicial systems abroad, such as in the UK, allow for timely resolutions. “In London, someone was sentenced within five days for a tweet, while here, amendments to criminal procedures or acts like PECA face significant resistance,” he added.
Rana Sanaullah also criticized the Supreme Court’s delays, referencing the prolonged stay on key decisions following the May 9 events. He argued that such delays would not be tolerated in other countries.
He concluded by urging reforms in Pakistan’s legal and judicial systems to address these challenges and ensure justice, especially in regions like Balochistan, where the situation remains dire.
