The woman, identified as 57-year-old Paloni, suffered a heart attack and passed away despite efforts to save her. According to sources, the flight was diverted to Karachi after the pilot sought permission for an emergency landing from Air Traffic Control (ATC). The plane landed safely, and a medical team boarded the aircraft to attend to the passenger. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon examination.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed the incident and stated that the health officer issued a death certificate, and the body was later cleared to be transported to Colombo on the same flight. This incident marks the second emergency landing in Karachi in recent months, with a similar incident occurring in October when an Indian-bound flight made an emergency landing after a passenger’s health deteriorated mid-flight.
The prompt action of the pilot and the medical team ensured the safety of all onboard, and the flight was able to continue its journey after a brief delay. The incident highlights the importance of emergency preparedness and the critical role of medical professionals in such situations.
