Cape Town: Pakistan’s opening batsman Saeem Ayub has left for London for medical treatment after sustaining an injury during the second Test match in Cape Town.
Following the instructions of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Najam Sethi, Saeem Ayub and Assistant Coach Azhar Mahmood flew from Cape Town to London, where sports orthopedic specialists in England will conduct a thorough check-up of Ayub’s injury.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi expressed his full support for the young cricketer, stating, “Saeem Ayub is an asset to Pakistan cricket, and we will do everything possible to support him in his recovery.”
Two days ago, after consulting with doctors, Sethi had decided to send Saeem Ayub to London for immediate treatment. “Doctors in Pakistan have been overseeing Saeem’s treatment plan, and all his medical reports have already been sent to London,” Sethi said, adding, “Saeem Ayub is a talented and stylish batsman, and he is an important asset for Pakistan cricket.”
Saeem Ayub was injured while fielding during the ongoing second Test match in Cape Town when he twisted his ankle. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where an MRI confirmed a fracture in his ankle. As a result, Ayub will remain sidelined from cricket for at least six weeks.
