Rawalpindi, (News Desk) Barrister Gohar Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has firmly denied allegations of backdoor contacts or negotiations, stating that no such discussions are taking place. He clarified that the only negotiations are being conducted by the committee formed by PTI’s founder, Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar confirmed that two rounds of talks have already taken place with the government’s negotiating committee. However, he emphasized that before the third round of discussions, it was essential for the PTI founder to meet with the committee. “We had informed the government’s negotiation team that a meeting with PTI’s founder is necessary,” he added.
He further expressed hope that the meeting would take place the following day, although no confirmation had been received at the time. Barrister Gohar also refuted claims that Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, was involved in any backdoor negotiations. “Bushra Bibi is not part of the negotiation process at all. There has been a false report suggesting that backdoor talks were taking place with her,” he stated.
Barrister Gohar reiterated that PTI’s committee, established by Imran Khan, is the only body handling negotiations, and no informal meetings have occurred outside of the official discussions. He outlined two main demands from the party: the release of political prisoners and the establishment of a judicial commission.
Regarding the ongoing Al-Qadir case, Barrister Gohar reiterated that Imran Khan had not personally benefited from the 190 million pound case. He emphasized that witnesses in the case had testified that Imran Khan had no direct involvement in any financial dealings. “We are hopeful that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will be acquitted in the Al-Qadir case,” he concluded.
