Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Outperforms Punjab and Federal Government in Tax Collection

Peshawar (News Desk) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has surpassed both Punjab and the federal government in tax collection for the first six months of the current fiscal year 2024-25, according to the province’s Finance Advisor, Muzammil Aslam.

In a comparative analysis of tax revenue collection, Muzammil Aslam highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa collected 45% more taxes, while Punjab saw a 10.8% increase, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) managed only a 26% increase in its collections.

Aslam revealed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had collected Rs 24.22 billion in taxes, marking a 45% increase compared to the previous year. In contrast, Punjab’s tax receipts for the July-December period amounted to Rs 118 billion, with a 10.8% increase. The FBR, on the other hand, collected Rs 5.6 trillion, reflecting a 26% rise.

The Finance Advisor emphasized that the performance difference between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions was evident in their respective approaches to governance, referring to the distinction between Form 45 and Form 47 in the management of revenues.
