Pishin: Authorities have arrested three poachers involved in the illegal hunting of a rare Suleman Markhor, a species officially protected under wildlife conservation laws in Pakistan.

The incident occurred in the mountainous region of Bostan in Pishin district, Balochistan, where the Suleman Markhor, designated as a protected species, was hunted. Acting on a tip-off, Levies Force conducted a raid and apprehended the poachers red-handed.

During the operation, officials seized the hunted Markhor, firearms, and a vehicle used by the suspects.

The Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department filed charges against the individuals under the Balochistan Wildlife Act, 2014. The accused were subsequently presented in court, which ordered a three-day judicial remand and handed them over to the Levies Force for further investigation.

This decisive action underscores the authorities’ commitment to protecting endangered species and enforcing wildlife conservation laws.
