Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has responded to the announcement of pardons for 19 convicts involved in the May 9 incident.

PTI Chairman’s legal representative, Barrister Gohar, commented on the development, stating, “The pardon for 19 individuals is not a major breakthrough. Initially, there were 67 individuals; 19 have been pardoned, while 48 have filed appeals.”

He reiterated PTI’s stance against the trial of civilians in military courts, emphasizing, “PTI does not support the trial of civilians in military courts. The Supreme Court has already ruled against such practices.”

Regarding negotiations with the government, Barrister Gohar expressed optimism, saying, “We will present our demands during today’s negotiations. All political parties should come together in the broader interest of the public and the nation. The success of these talks is vital for the country’s progress.”
