Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shir Afzal Murtaza stated that several rounds of negotiations have taken place with the establishment, and the establishment has been facilitating the negotiation team.
He emphasized that the political climate is not conducive to such statements, referring to the political terrorism allegations. “We were targeted on November 26, and everyone knows what happened on that day,” he said, stressing that PTI is being unfairly labeled as political terrorists.
Murtaza also mentioned that there are many elements within PTI who do not want the focus to shift to institutions. “Our goal is to keep institutions away from politics,” he added.
Regarding the ongoing dialogue process, he welcomed it, stating that such statements should not impact the negotiations. He also pointed out that some people sitting abroad make responsible statements, while many PTI members join the party and engage in inappropriate behavior. “Founder of PTI has already distanced himself from such elements,” Murtaza remarked.
He also referred to the events of 2021, stating that the cost of a single mistake was paid by the nation with blood. “If the issues are not addressed responsibly, the entire country will fall into a crisis,” he warned.
Murtaza concluded by reiterating that PTI’s founder remains positive regarding the negotiations, and the establishment’s facilitation of the negotiation team is a step in the right direction.
