The Lahore High Court, under Justice Tariq Nadeem, has dismissed the bail plea of a woman accused of scamming individuals by promising to send them abroad in exchange for money.
Court Proceedings
During the hearing, the defendant’s counsel argued that the case against his client was baseless. He claimed the accused had assured the complainant of returning the amount and that despite receiving PKR 800,000, the complainant filed a case with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The counsel requested the court to grant bail and prevent the FIA from arresting the accused.
On the other hand, the complainant’s lawyer stated that the accused had fraudulently collected PKR 2 million by falsely promising to arrange travel to Portugal. The lawyer added that the accused had failed to return the money despite prior commitments and that her bail plea had already been rejected by the lower court in Gujranwala. He urged the court to reject the current plea as well.
Court’s Decision
Justice Tariq Nadeem ruled against the bail application, emphasizing that human traffickers do not deserve any leniency. The court reaffirmed its stance on combating fraudulent practices and human trafficking.
This ruling underscores the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring justice for victims of financial and human exploitation.
