Islamabad: Pakistan has reported another polio case, raising the total number of cases this year to 65.
According to officials, the latest case was detected in a 1.5-year-old child from Qilla Abdullah district in Balochistan. With this, the number of children affected by polio in Balochistan has reached 27.
Dr. Azra Pechuho, a health official, expressed concern that the polio vaccine is proving less effective for malnourished children, highlighting the challenges in eradicating the virus.
So far, 18 polio cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18 in Sindh, and one each in Punjab and Islamabad.
Authorities continue to urge parents to ensure their children receive polio vaccinations and call for renewed efforts to combat the disease.
