According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), individuals involved in the tragic events of May 9, 2023, have been sentenced by military courts. A total of 25 criminals have been sentenced.
The ISPR stated that individuals involved in the attack on the Jinnah House, including Jan Muhammad Khan and Muhammad Imran Mehmood, have each been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. Similarly, Raja Muhammad Ihsan, involved in the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ), has also been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Additionally, those involved in other attacks, such as Rahmatullah (10 years) in the attack on the Punjab Regimental Center in Mardan, Anwar Khan (10 years) in the attack on the PAF base in Mianwali, Muhammad Afaaq Khan (9 years) in the attack on Bannu Cantt, and Dawood Khan (7 years) in the attack on Chakdara Fort, have all received sentences.
The ISPR emphasized that the tragic incidents of May 9, 2023, marked a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan, when the nation witnessed politically incited, violent protests and acts of arson. These violent incidents are considered one of the darkest moments in Pakistan’s history.
