Lahore: The Punjab Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved the dispatch of medicines and other relief supplies to Parachinar, following a request from the people of the region.
During the meeting of the provincial cabinet, held in Lahore, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of supporting Parachinar’s residents during their time of need. “The people of Parachinar are our own, and we cannot leave them alone in their time of hardship,” she stated. In addition to the relief supplies, a mobile health unit will also be sent to the area to provide medical assistance.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz also praised China for its advanced infrastructure and commitment to investment. She noted that China has shown interest in investing in Punjab, with 60 major Chinese companies willing to invest in the province. She highlighted China’s success in using liquid nitrogen to treat cancer tumors, bypassing the need for chemotherapy, and announced the launch of a pilot project in Punjab to adopt this modern Chinese treatment technique for cancer.
The Cabinet also approved the Punjab Clean Air Program, which will be implemented with the support of the World Bank. The program includes measures such as electric buses, charging stations, and the development of super-siders to improve air quality.
Additionally, the Punjab Cabinet approved Pakistan’s first green building project and instructed the introduction of a farmer-friendly wheat policy. The Cabinet also approved funds for the provision of free medicines in hospitals and for the wheat release policy for the year 2024-25.
In a significant move, the Cabinet decided to increase the punishment for incapacitating children to make them beg from one year to ten years.
