Lahore: The Motorway M-2 has been closed once again for all types of traffic from Thokar Niaz Baig to Hiran Minar due to dense fog, the Motorway Police spokesperson confirmed.
The spokesperson stated that the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway had also been closed earlier due to similar weather conditions. “Motorways are closed to ensure public safety and facilitate secure travel during extreme foggy conditions,” the spokesperson added.
Motorway Police urged citizens to prioritize travel during daylight hours, suggesting that the best time to travel in foggy weather is between 10 AM and 6 PM.
The public has been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly between Lahore and Islamabad. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of taking precautions, such as using fog lights, reducing vehicle speed, and maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
Travelers are also encouraged to use the “Motorway Humsafar” smartphone application for real-time updates, and to seek guidance through FM Radio 95 or the Motorway helpline 130 before starting their journey.
This advisory comes as dense fog continues to disrupt travel across key motorways in Punjab, raising concerns for road safety during the winter season.
