Islamabad : Senior PTI leader and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Umar Ayub, has warned that if their demands are not met, the party will comply with Imran Khan’s directive to launch a civil disobedience movement.

Addressing a gathering at the residence of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Islamabad, Umar Ayub said, “On November 26, our workers were fired upon, over 200 of them are missing. We demand a judicial commission to investigate the incidents of November 26 and May 9, 2023.”

The meeting, chaired by Achakzai, included leaders from various opposition groups, such as former Speaker Asad Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Allama Nasir Abbas of the Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM). Discussions focused on the political situation, potential negotiations with the government, and other pressing matters.

A prayer was offered for PTI workers allegedly killed during the November 26 protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk. Speaking to the media afterward, Sunni Ittehad Council chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza invited opposition leaders to participate in a December 15 event commemorating the sacrifices of PTI workers.

Umar Ayub also announced that PTI founder Imran Khan has expanded the party’s negotiation team, stating, “On December 5, Khan instructed us to form a team for negotiations.” He reiterated that PTI’s primary demand is the establishment of a judicial commission to probe the November 26 and May 9 incidents.

Former Speaker Asad Qaiser emphasized the need to engage other opposition parties, adding, “We are organizing a ceremony to honor the sacrifices of our workers and will approach the Court of Justice over concerns regarding the Supreme Court’s recent decision, which could be used against PTI.”

Sahibzada Hamid Raza, speaking on behalf of the Sunni Ittehad Council, stressed the need for equality in negotiations with the government. He added, “We have sacrificed our homes, families, and businesses for the cause. We won’t forget the sacrifices of our martyrs, and our talks will be based on equal footing.”
