Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will not participate in the All-Parties Conference (APC) convened by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The decision was made in response to what PTI described as the governor’s “silent complicity” in the killing of unarmed and peaceful citizens, allegedly for political gain.

PPP Accused of Supporting Anti-PTI Agenda

In a statement, PTI accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of being a key player in the government’s agenda to ban the party. The statement highlighted PPP’s role in passing a resolution in the Balochistan Assembly calling for a ban on PTI.

“On one hand, the PPP is actively involved in the illegal arrests and harassment of PTI workers, especially in Sindh, while on the other, it tries to project itself as a pro-democracy force by holding symbolic events,” the statement read.

“PPP Has No Mandate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”

PTI emphasized that the PPP has no electoral mandate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, asserting that the province’s true representation lies with PTI. “The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have entrusted their mandate to PTI, and we are fully committed to fulfilling this responsibility,” said Sheikh Waqas, PTI spokesperson.

He also stressed that the provincial government is serious about addressing the issues faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Despite a lack of cooperation from the federal government, the province has resolved complex matters through “political maturity and effective administrative measures.”

Key Examples of Provincial Government’s Efforts

The spokesperson cited the Pukhtoon and Kurram Jirgas as successful initiatives aimed at resolving local issues without federal intervention. “These jirgas are a testament to our dedication to the province’s stability and progress,” he added.

PTI made it clear that if the governor sends any serious proposal to the provincial government, it will be considered. “The provincial government remains open to constructive engagement but will not be part of mere symbolic gatherings,” the statement concluded.
