Lahore: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, honored the Blind Cricket Team for their remarkable triumph in the T20 World Cup by hosting them at the National Cricket Academy. In recognition of their historic victory, Naqvi presented the players with a cash prize of PKR 10 million, while the Blind Cricket Association received a grant of PKR 20 million.
Speaking at the event, Mohsin Naqvi lauded the team’s stellar performance, emphasizing the pride and joy they have brought to the nation. “Your victory is Pakistan’s victory. You have illuminated the country’s name on the global stage,” he said. “The entire nation is proud of your achievement, and your success has given us all a reason to celebrate.”
Naqvi assured the team of PCB’s full support moving forward. “We are committed to meeting the needs of the Blind Cricket Team and ensuring that you continue your winning streak in the future,” he added.
President of the Blind Cricket Association, Sultan Shah, expressed gratitude to the PCB for their generous support. “We deeply appreciate Chairman Naqvi’s unwavering commitment to blind cricket and his continuous encouragement,” Shah said.
Team captain Nisar Ali also extended his thanks to the PCB. “You have always treated us with respect and dignity. We are grateful for your support and recognition,” Ali stated.
The event was attended by notable figures including PCB Advisor Aamir Mir, Chief Selector Wahab Riaz, Chief Financial Officer, Directors of International and Domestic Cricket, and former cricketer Azhar Ali, alongside officials and players from the Blind Cricket Team.
The victory in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup has not only highlighted the talent and determination of the visually impaired athletes but has also reinforced the importance of supporting inclusive sports in Pakistan.
