Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and 94 other party leaders in connection with the D-Chowk protest case.
The warrants were granted following a request by Kohsar Police Station, seeking legal action against the accused for their involvement in the protest.
Prominent PTI figures named in the warrants include Barrister Gohar Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Ali Bukhari, and Aamir Mughal.
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra of the ATC also issued warrants for several key PTI leaders and supporters, including:
- Umar Ayub Khan
- Sher Afzal Marwat
- Khalid Khurshid
- Senator Faisal Javed
- MNA Abdul Latif
- Fateh-ul-Mulk
- Ali Nasir
- Provincial Minister Riaz Khan
- Ali Zaman
- Peer Masroor
- Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman
- Sohail Afridi
- Shehryar Afridi
- Shehram Tarakai
- Mushtaq Ullah
- Rashid Tipu
- Zulfi Bukhari
- Salman Akram Raja
- Murad Saeed
- Rauf Hassan
The warrants come amid heightened political tensions in Pakistan, with PTI leaders facing multiple legal challenges. The D-Chowk protest, which led to charges under anti-terrorism laws, was part of a broader wave of demonstrations organized by the PTI in response to Imran Khan’s ousting from power earlier this year.
Authorities are now expected to take swift action to enforce the warrants as legal proceedings continue.
