ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an emergency meeting of the federal cabinet today (Wednesday) at 4 PM to discuss the worsening law and order situation in the country. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is expected to brief the cabinet on recent attacks on security forces, including casualties and damage to public property.
One of the key items on the agenda is the proposal to impose Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) amid escalating unrest. The cabinet is also set to deliberate on measures to handle the ongoing protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the resultant security challenges.
According to sources, the meeting will review the overall political and security situation in the country, with a particular focus on the recent violent protests in Islamabad. This comes despite the Islamabad High Court’s decision not to permit such demonstrations in the federal capital.
The Interior Minister will provide a detailed briefing on the attacks on police and Rangers by PTI protesters, highlighting the loss of lives and injuries among security personnel, as well as the extent of damage to public infrastructure. The cabinet is expected to approve critical decisions aimed at restoring law and order and ensuring public safety in the face of ongoing unrest.
