Congo Virus Outbreak in Pakistan: Death Toll Rises to Seven

The Congo virus continues to wreak havoc in Pakistan, claiming another life in Quetta. A 40-year-old woman from Musa Khel succumbed to the virus, bringing the total death toll to seven in 2024. The victim was admitted to the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Chest Diseases in critical condition, but unfortunately, she passed away before her test results were confirmed.

In another case, a 23-year-old man, Abdul Khaliq, from Kuchlak was admitted to the same hospital and tested positive for the Congo virus. His condition is being closely monitored by medical professionals.

According to the Epidemiological Department, the total number of Congo virus cases in Quetta has now risen to 30 in 2024, with seven fatalities recorded so far. The outbreak has raised concerns about the spread of the virus and the need for increased measures to prevent further cases.

The Congo virus, also known as Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, is a deadly viral disease transmitted through tick bites or contact with infected animals. It can cause severe symptoms, including fever, headache, and bleeding, and has a high mortality rate if left untreated.

The recent cases highlight the importance of taking precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. Health authorities must take swift action to contain the outbreak and ensure that proper treatment is provided to those affected.
