Since 2021, Pakistan has experienced numerous internet disruptions, including:
- February 2021: Ground cable cut in Egypt causes significant connectivity issues
- December 2021: Cut in the UAE’s main land cable, AAE-1, affects internet services for several hours
- February 2022: Malfunction in the TW1 cable in Karachi leads to a three-month-long internet outage
- November 2022: Ground cable cut in Egypt causes a major disruption
- February 2024: Land cable cut in Egypt significantly affects internet services in Pakistan
- June 17, 2024: Submarine cable fault under water near Karachi causes internet outage, with repairs expected by September 24
- July 31, 2024: Fault in the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) system causes nationwide disruptions
- August 17-27, 2024: Fault in the Asia Africa Europe-3 (AAE-3) submarine cable disrupts internet services
