Winona Ryder has opened up about her emotional experience returning to the set of the Beetlejuice sequel, revealing she “welled up with emotion” upon seeing her co-star Michael Keaton back in character as the iconic ghost.

In an interview with OK! magazine, Ryder shared her joy at reuniting with Keaton, who, along with director Tim Burton, had been a source of support and encouragement during her early days as an actress. She described the experience as “special” and “moving,” feeling a sense of freedom and creativity on set, much like an independent film.

Notably, Ryder agreed to join the sequel without reading the script, trusting Burton’s vision and commitment to creating a worthy follow-up. “Like anything with Tim, it has to be right. It was never going to be a sequel just for the sake of it,” she explained.

The Beetlejuice sequel has now hit cinemas, marking a highly anticipated return to the beloved franchise.
