The Sindh government has decided to buy 138 luxury vehicles for assistant commissioners at a cost of over Rs1.99 billion, sparking debate about the significant expenditure. The finance secretary has initiated the procurement process, which has raised eyebrows due to the financial challenges faced by the province.

Critics argue that the funds could be better utilized for public welfare projects, while government officials maintain that the vehicles are necessary for the efficient functioning of the Assistant Commissioners.

This decision comes after the Punjab government recently sanctioned the procurement of 37 bulletproof vehicles for Chinese engineers and officials involved in various projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
