The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased the fitness test passing criteria to 60%, surpassing the international standard of 50%. This new benchmark presents a challenge for national team players, ensuring they meet the highest fitness levels.

The fitness tests, scheduled for September 7 and 9 in Lahore, will assess players’ abilities in:

  • Bench pull
  • Bench press
  • Skinfold measurement
  • Squats
  • Long jumps
  • 2-kilometer run (within 8 minutes)
  • 3-run drills (within 10 seconds, with 30-second breaks)

Injured players, including Wasim Junior, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Hasan Ali, underwent modified fitness tests focusing on running, long jumps, and 3-run drills.

The PCB aims to maintain a central contract list of 25-30 players, ensuring only the fittest athletes represent Pakistan in international cricket.
