The Punjab Wildlife Department has taken decisive action against the illegal sale of rare wildlife species, arresting individuals involved in selling snow leopard skins in Lahore. A search operation led to the recovery of a snow leopard skin and the identification of a group engaged in this illicit activity.

The department’s spokesman revealed that the snow leopard skin is worth around $20,000 in the international market. The group was using social media platforms to illegally sell the skins of expensive and rare wildlife animals.

Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy on wildlife protection laws, stressing that such activities put endangered species at greater risk in Pakistan.

Snow leopards are among the endangered species in Pakistan, with a population ranging between 250-420, according to the World Population Review.
