Real Madrid avoided their first LaLiga defeat of the season with a lackluster 1-1 draw against Las Palmas on Thursday. Vinicius Jr. scored a crucial penalty in the second half to cancel out Alberto Moleiro’s early opener for Las Palmas.

The Spanish giants struggled to find their rhythm in the match, with Las Palmas capitalizing on their slow start. Moleiro scored in the fifth minute, catching Real Madrid’s defense off guard. Despite their best efforts, Real Madrid couldn’t find an equalizer in the first half, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois making three crucial saves to keep the visitors in the match.

The introduction of substitute Rodrygo in the second half added much-needed energy and creativity to Real Madrid’s attack. However, Las Palmas goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen made several important stops to deny Real Madrid’s players, including Antonio Rudiger, Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Vinicius Jr.

Las Palmas had a clear chance to double their lead in the 54th minute, but forward Sandro squandered the opportunity, sending his shot well over the bar. Real Madrid took advantage of this miss and secured a point when Vinicius Jr. converted a penalty after Las Palmas defender Álex Suárez was penalized for handball.

The draw sees Real Madrid continue their unbeaten run, but they remain fourth in the standings with five points from three matches, four behind leaders Barcelona. Kylian Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in June, is still searching for his first LaLiga goal.

Real Madrid will face Real Betis at home on Sunday, while Las Palmas travels to the Basque Country to play Alaves.
