President Asif Ali Zardari will confer the Hilal-e-Imtiaz on Paris Olympics 2024 gold medalist Arshad Nadeem today in a special ceremony at the President’s House in Islamabad. Arshad Nadeem made Pakistan proud by winning the gold medal in javelin throw with a record-breaking distance of 92.97 meters, surpassing 118 records in the history of the Paris Olympics.
Upon his return, Arshad Nadeem received a hero’s welcome at Allama Iqbal International Airport, with a large crowd cheering and celebrating his victory. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan announced prize money for Arshad Nadeem, and private companies also announced vehicles for the athlete.
Arshad Nadeem’s achievement is historic, and his gold medal will remain unmatched until the next Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. He also made headlines for beating Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra for the first time and for the heartwarming “mother’s diplomacy” between Pakistan and India, where both mothers praised each other’s sons.
