Karachi is experiencing heavy rainfall and strong winds as the monsoon season sets in, bringing with it a mix of light and heavy showers across the city. The Meteorological Department predicts the rainy spell will continue until August 31, with the city expected to receive 150-200 mm of rain.

The city administration has declared a rain emergency, and a dedicated cell has been established at the Chief Minister’s House to monitor the situation. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has instructed all Divisional Commissioners to remain on high alert to ensure citizen safety.

The rain has affected several areas, including Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Saddar, causing waterlogging and making roads impassable. Thunderstorms and gusty winds continue to accompany the rain, creating further challenges.

Authorities urge citizens to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary travel to stay safe during this period.
