Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has called for an open trial of former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed, saying that his case affects Pakistan’s image and should not be limited to an internal military issue.
Imran Khan, currently incarcerated, made the demand during an informal discussion with journalists at Adiala Jail on Wednesday. He argued that his own trial in a military court would tarnish Pakistan’s reputation and that Faiz Hameed’s case should be tried in an open court.
Imran Khan also downplayed Faiz Hameed’s influence post-retirement, calling him a “zero” and questioning the benefit of maintaining ties with him. He emphasized that the May 9 conspiracy case, in which Faiz Hameed is allegedly involved, is a local matter rather than a national security issue.
