Pakistan’s Population Growth Rate Highest Globally: PBS Report

A recent report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has revealed that Pakistan has the highest population growth rate in the region and globally. The country’s population is expected to double by 2050 if this rate continues, raising concerns about the implications for resources, infrastructure, and economic development.

According to the report, Pakistan’s total population stands at 229 million as of 2023. The country is home to a significant number of Afghan residents, with 1,923,453 individuals residing in various provinces, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Islamabad. Additionally, there are 356,800 Chinese nationals, 26,900 Bengali residents, and 172,158 foreigners from other nationalities living in Pakistan.

The report also highlights that approximately 8,700,000 Hindus, Christians, Ahmadis, and other religious minorities reside in the country. Furthermore, a significant number of children, aged 5-16, are currently out of school, with 25,370,700 individuals not receiving formal education
