Islamabad (Dawn News) – Pakistan has reiterated its stance of not engaging in talks with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and has urged Afghanistan to take action against terrorists operating on its soil. Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasized that Pakistan has no intention of negotiating with a terror group responsible for killing Pakistani citizens. She also clarified that any statements suggesting Kabul’s mediation between Pakistan and TTP should be understood in the context of Pakistan’s firm position against dialogue with the terrorist organization.
Pakistan has expressed concerns about the terror threat from individuals and entities supported by Afghanistan and expects the Afghan authorities to uphold their sovereignty and take action against terror groups operating from their territory. The country has also reaffirmed its commitment to repatriating Afghan nationals under the Illegal Foreign Repatriation Plan, with discussions underway with several countries to resettle Afghan refugees.
In other matters, Pakistan has denied any indication to the UNHCR about suspending the repatriation plan and has emphasized its robust relationship with the US, based on mutual trust and cooperation. Additionally, dialogues are ongoing with Russia to enhance cooperation in various domains, including economic and trade matters.
