An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail pleas in three cases related to the May 9 riots, including the attack on Jinnah House. The court had reserved its verdict on July 6 after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defense.

Imran Khan had filed bail applications in the Jinnah House, Askari Tower, and Shadman Police Station attacks cases. Despite being ordered to attend the hearing via video link, Khan’s attendance could not be arranged due to internet issues.

This decision comes after Khan was acquitted in two May 9 violence cases by the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on May 30. The former prime minister has been behind bars since August 2023 and was previously convicted in the Toshakhana, Cipher, and Iddat cases. His convictions in the Toshakhana and Cipher cases have been suspended, but he remains in prison in the Iddat case.

The PTI founder faces charges under Section 109 in the May 9 cases, but his lawyer argues that no evidence was presented, and the FIR was registered by an unauthorized person.
