GAZA ( The COW News Digital)The devastating war imposed by Israel on Gaza has entered its second anniversary, with no signs of an end to the violence. Despite mounting international appeals, Israeli bombardment continues to claim civilian lives, turning Gaza into a humanitarian catastrophe.
According to local health officials, 24 more Palestinians were killed in the latest strikes, bringing the death toll to over 67,000 since the conflict began on October 7, 2023. Among the victims are thousands of women and children, while nearly 170,000 people have been wounded.
The war erupted after Hamas-led resistance fighters launched “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm,” breaching Israeli borders and taking 251 hostages from nearby settlements. In response, Israel launched massive military operations, deploying 360,000 reserve troops and enforcing a complete siege on Gaza.
Over the past two years, the relentless airstrikes have reduced entire neighborhoods to rubble. Hospitals, mosques, churches, schools, and public infrastructure have been destroyed. More than two million residents now face severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, pushing the enclave to the brink of famine.
Human rights groups describe the situation as one of the worst humanitarian crises of the century. “Gaza has become an open-air graveyard,” one aid worker said, highlighting the ongoing suffering of displaced families living in makeshift shelters.
Despite repeated calls for a ceasefire, including from the U.S. President, Israel has continued its military operations, citing security concerns. The international community remains divided, with growing outrage across the Arab and Muslim world over what many describe as “systematic war crimes” against civilians.
As Gaza marks two years of bloodshed and destruction, the world watches yet another chapter of tragedy unfold — one that has left an entire generation scarred and a region desperate for peace.
