TEL AVIV (The COW News Digital) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signaled that Israeli military operations in Gaza could intensify if Hamas fails to accept a proposed ceasefire agreement. Netanyahu’s remarks came as an Israeli delegation prepared to travel to Cairo for talks aimed at finalizing the details and timeline of a potential truce.

Speaking in a national address, Netanyahu emphasized that Hamas has no option but to accept the ceasefire. He reiterated Israel’s long-standing demand that Hamas must be disarmed, warning that this could occur through diplomatic channels or, if necessary, by military means. Netanyahu also stated that the United States has been informed of Israel’s position on the matter.

Meanwhile, Palestinian group Hamas has largely accepted former U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, although it has expressed reservations over certain provisions. The group has also rejected the involvement of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in mediating the process, according to Palestinian sources.

Egyptian media reported that indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are scheduled to take place today and tomorrow, with the release of hostages and other key issues expected to be central to the discussions.

In a related statement, Trump warned Hamas to make an immediate decision, cautioning that failure to do so could result in the withdrawal of all existing conditions tied to the peace plan.

The situation on the ground in Gaza remains dire, with Israeli airstrikes continuing unabated. Over the past 24 hours, at least 66 Palestinians have been killed and 265 more wounded in the ongoing military operations. Hospitals in the Gaza Strip continue to struggle under the strain of casualties, while international calls for restraint and humanitarian access intensify.

Netanyahu’s tough rhetoric reflects Israel’s determination to enforce its security objectives while pressing Hamas to adhere to the proposed ceasefire. Analysts suggest that the Cairo talks, though indirect, will be closely monitored by global powers eager to prevent a further escalation that could destabilize the region.

With tensions mounting and civilian casualties rising, the coming days could prove decisive in determining whether a fragile ceasefire can be achieved or whether hostilities will further intensify.
