Islamabad( The COW News Digital)The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall in several parts of the country, including Islamabad and northern regions, over the next 24 hours. According to the latest advisory, most areas of Pakistan are expected to experience hot and dry weather, but upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir could see scattered showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

In the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, rainfall is expected at a few locations, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. Surrounding areas including Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Murree, and Galiyat are also likely to receive light to moderate rain.

The PMD has forecast showers in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Kohat, Charsadda, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Malakand, Bajaur, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Mohmand, Nowshera, Mardan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, and Waziristan. These areas may experience thunderstorms along with rain, which could lead to localized disruptions but will also help lower temperatures.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain with thunder and lightning is expected at a few locations, while in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, moderate showers with strong winds are predicted. The weather department has advised residents and tourists in hilly areas to remain cautious, as sudden downpours could cause slippery roads and minor landslides.

Meanwhile, coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan will see partly cloudy skies with humid conditions, but no significant rain is expected there. Most flood-affected districts of Sindh and Punjab are likely to remain hot and dry throughout the week, according to the PMD.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed across most of the country, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages in many regions. Farmers and residents in the northern areas have welcomed the forecast as a chance to improve soil moisture and reduce the heat stress affecting crops.

The Met Office has urged local administrations to take precautionary measures in case of heavy rain in vulnerable regions, particularly in areas prone to flash floods or urban flooding.
