KARACHI ( The COW News Digital) A daring daylight robbery shook the city on Wednesday as armed dacoits looted Rs 12 million from a jeweler near APWA College in Karachi’s Karimabad area before fleeing the scene.
According to the Karimabad Jewelers Association president, the victim jeweler had gone to Saddar to sell gold and was returning to Karimabad carrying the proceeds of the sale when he was ambushed by four armed suspects. The culprits surrounded him at gunpoint and snatched the entire amount before escaping.
The incident has spread panic among local traders, with many expressing concern about rising street crimes targeting jewelers and businessmen carrying cash.
Police confirmed the robbery and said that efforts are underway to trace the suspects. “We are collecting CCTV footage from the APWA College vicinity and other evidence to help identify the perpetrators,” a police spokesperson stated. The authorities have also recorded a detailed statement from the victim to piece together the sequence of events.
This heist has once again raised serious questions about security measures in busy commercial areas of Karachi. Jewelers’ associations have demanded increased police patrolling and stricter monitoring to prevent such incidents in the future.
