Karachi( The COW News Digital) Renowned Pakistani actor Syed Jibran has revealed a shocking incident from his career, sharing that he narrowly escaped death while shooting a hanging scene at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
The revelation came during his recent appearance on Geo News’ comedy talk show Hansna Mana Hai, where the actor spoke candidly about his life, career, and some unforgettable experiences.
Responding to a question, Jibran admitted, “There was a time I actually came dangerously close to being hanged during a scene. I barely survived.”
Explaining the incident, he said the shoot was taking place inside Adiala Jail for a dramatic sequence. The scene required him to be placed on a hanging platform with a noose around his neck. While the setup was meant to be controlled, the execution nearly turned fatal.
According to Jibran, “I was standing on the trapdoor with the noose tied. The director wanted to record the entire sequence until the lever was pulled. The wooden planks below me had been secured with chains to ensure they wouldn’t open during the take.”
However, when the lever was pulled for the shot, it failed to function properly. The director decided to reshoot, and Jibran was taken down from the platform. “The moment I stepped down, the lever was pulled again and the platform suddenly gave way,” he recalled. “If I had been up there for just five or six more seconds, I would have lost my life.”
The terrifying moment left the entire crew shaken. Jibran said the director himself was in shock and immediately advised him to give charity as a gesture of gratitude for surviving. “It truly was a life-and-death moment,” the actor reflected.
During the same program, Jibran also shared how he entered the entertainment industry. He revealed that his decision to step into showbiz was sparked by a casual bet. “I was in my third year of MBBS when a friend bet me 100 rupees that I could never appear on TV. To win the bet, I accepted my first role — and that’s how my journey as an actor began,” he said with a smile.
The revelation about his near-death experience has since sparked discussions among fans about the dangers actors often face while performing realistic stunts.
