Islamabad( The COW News Digital)The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting thunderstorms and rain in several regions of the country, including the federal capital, Islamabad, while most plain areas are expected to remain hot and humid.

According to the PMD, intense heat and high humidity levels will persist in most of Pakistan’s plains. However, scattered rain with gusty winds and thunder is likely in the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

In Islamabad, showers accompanied by strong winds and thunder are expected in parts of the city. Similar weather patterns are anticipated in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal. These areas could experience temporary relief from the prevailing heat but also face localized disruptions due to heavy downpours.

In Murree, authorities have imposed Section 144 to prevent any disturbances during Independence Day celebrations, ensuring public safety amidst anticipated rainfall.

The PMD has also forecast rain in parts of Swat, Dir, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and their surrounding areas, with strong winds expected to accompany the showers. Residents and travelers in these northern districts are advised to remain cautious, especially in landslide-prone zones.

Meanwhile, most districts of Balochistan are likely to remain dry and hot, with temperatures expected to stay above seasonal averages. Coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi, are predicted to experience partly cloudy skies, which may provide some respite from the heat but without significant rainfall activity.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, partly cloudy conditions are expected, with a chance of light showers in some locations.

During the past 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced hot and humid weather, though Islamabad, northeastern Punjab, and parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received rain with strong winds and thunder, bringing temporary relief from the oppressive heat.

The PMD has urged citizens to take precautions against sudden weather changes, particularly in areas prone to urban flooding, landslides, and wind damage. Farmers in rain-affected regions have been advised to adjust their crop schedules accordingly, while local administrations have been directed to remain on alert for any weather-related emergencies.

With monsoon activity expected to persist intermittently in the coming days, weather authorities will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide timely updates.
