KARACHI ( The COW News Digital) Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has assured that the ongoing issue concerning pilgrims will be resolved amicably through dialogue, stressing that the closure of land routes cannot be a permanent measure. Speaking to the media alongside leaders of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) on Saturday, the governor underlined the need for understanding and consensus in addressing the matter.
Governor Tessori revealed that he had a telephonic conversation earlier with MWM head Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, who made a singular demand — the reopening of the land route for pilgrims. “This is a matter that must be resolved with mutual respect and discussion,” Tessori said.
Accompanied by political leader Anees Qaimkhani, the governor said they had met with religious scholars to explore practical solutions. “Yesterday, we sat together for four hours of consultations and agreed on one thing — no one can permanently close the routes,” he added.
The governor confirmed that he has already discussed the matter with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. He also disclosed that work has commenced on issues related to air travel and passports to facilitate pilgrims more effectively.
According to Tessori, the land route was closed temporarily for security reasons, but the government is actively working to restore all travel options. A special committee has been formed to oversee the reinstatement of flights and to ensure that necessary security measures are in place. “We want to make sure that pilgrims not only have access to their destinations but also enjoy the best facilities possible,” he emphasized.
The closure of the land route has been a point of contention in recent weeks, with various religious and political leaders urging the government to restore it immediately. While security concerns remain a factor, Tessori’s comments suggest that the administration is seeking a balanced approach — maintaining safety while respecting the religious obligations of the people.
As discussions continue, the government’s next steps will determine whether tensions ease or escalate. For now, Governor Tessori’s message is one of dialogue, cooperation, and a commitment to finding a workable resolution for all parties involved.
