Washington D.C( The COW News Digital)Former U.S. President Donald Trump has made bold new statements regarding international conflicts and energy trade, vowing tariffs and sanctions on countries that continue to purchase oil from Russia.

In a recent address, Trump criticized the Biden administration’s foreign policy, claiming it failed to prevent the war in Ukraine. He insisted that the conflict would never have occurred under his presidency. “The war in Ukraine is a direct result of weak diplomacy,” Trump said. “Had I been in office, this war would not have happened.”

Taking aim at countries continuing oil imports from Russia, Trump announced that, if re-elected, his administration would impose additional tariffs and penalties on nations financially supporting Russia’s economy through energy purchases. The move, he claims, is aimed at undermining Moscow’s economic strength.

Russia swiftly rejected the threats, particularly those targeting India, which remains one of Moscow’s major oil buyers. Russian officials described the threats as “unilateral and coercive tactics”, vowing not to bow to pressure.

This proposed policy, if implemented, could significantly affect global energy markets, particularly in Asia and Europe, where reliance on Russian oil remains high despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Analysts believe Trump’s stance may strain diplomatic relations with strategic allies who have opted to maintain trade with Russia for economic or energy security reasons.

Trump also revisited his time in office, claiming he had prevented at least five major international conflicts, including a possible India-Pakistan war, which he described as a “near disaster” that was averted through strong diplomacy.

Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Trump mentioned that his team is actively working to ensure food supplies reach the region. He proposed a new model where Arab countries fund the aid, and Israel oversees its distribution, a plan that may face scrutiny from both regional governments and human rights organizations.

As the 2024 U.S. presidential elections approach, Trump’s renewed global assertions are seen as part of his campaign to present himself as a decisive leader capable of restoring order and strength to American foreign policy.
