Kabul ( The COW News Digital) The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 22-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Tri-Nation T20I Series and the Asia Cup 2025, both to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The tri-series will feature Afghanistan, Pakistan, and UAE, and is scheduled from August 29 to September 7 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It will serve as a preparatory event ahead of the prestigious Asia Cup, which kicks off on September 9 and runs through September 28, also in the UAE.
As per the ACB, the preliminary squad will undergo an intensive two-week training camp, after which the final 15-member squad for both tournaments will be selected.
Captain Rashid Khan will lead the Afghan side, bringing his extensive T20 experience to the fore. Other key players in the squad include Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Noor Ahmad, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, all of whom have been regulars in Afghanistan’s white-ball setup.
The 22-man squad also features rising talents such as Mohammad Ishaq, Wafiullah, Nangyal Kharoti, Abdullah Ahmadzai, and Basheer Ahmad, showcasing ACB’s focus on youth development alongside seasoned campaigners.
