Islamabad( The COW News Digital)Pakistan is set to make a significant leap in its space ambitions with the launch of an advanced remote sensing satellite from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre tomorrow evening.
The launch is scheduled to take place between 7 and 8 PM Pakistan Standard Time, and marks a major breakthrough for the country’s space program.
All preparations have been completed at the launch site, where scientists from Pakistan’s national space agency SUPARCO are also present to oversee the mission.
The satellite, equipped with state-of-the-art remote sensing technology, will play a crucial role in national development. It is designed to monitor infrastructure expansion, track urban sprawl, and provide early warnings for natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and earthquakes. Officials also said the satellite will strengthen strategic projects like CPEC by helping identify geographical and environmental hazards.
A video message from the mission’s Project Director, Dr. Muhammad Yasir, recorded from China, will be broadcast during the launch ceremony, which will be streamed live at SUPARCO Headquarters in Islamabad.
Currently, Pakistan has five satellites operating in space. The addition of this advanced satellite marks another step forward in enhancing the country’s space-based data capabilities, and in leveraging satellite technology to support sustainable development and disaster resilience.
